Detroit Radio Vet, Pistons PA announcer featured in NBA 2K22 – CW50 Detroit
(CBS DETROIT) – John Mason is the man behind the mic, moving from Morning Radio to Piston’s Arena, and now NBA 2K22.

“I was like wow! What do you want me to do? ”Said John Mason, Detroit Pistons PA announcer and host of the 105.9 Kiss FM morning show.“ They said we wanted you to be in NBA 2K22, so when can we? -we bring you to California to begin with. “
For 18 years, Mason was the official sound announcer for the Detroit Pistons, remixing sports broadcasts and adding his distinct sound signature.
“I don’t have that great arena voice,” Mason said. “These guys with those nice, big booming voices, so I have to do mine and have fun!”
The Radio Vet is one of 30 announcers featured in the new NBA 2K22 series.

Players around the world will have the chance to experience what Pistons fans have grown to love.
It is an honor that Mason calls a dream.
“I did radio in the city for about 30 years,” Mason said. “I’ve been through several generations of Pistons fans, and now NBA 2K22 is going to give me yet another generation.
The all-new NBA 2K22 game is slated for release on Friday, September 10.
