Fabric store

Fabric store opens in Coppes Commons | Business

NAPPANÉE

A fabric store with something for all kinds of sewers and quilts came to Nappanee.

Market Street Fabric Company, owned by the husband and wife team of Maria and Richard Schmucker, opened in June. The store is located in Coppes Commons at 401 E. Market Street in Nappanee.

“We thought there was a need for a small assortment of fabrics in the Nappanee area. There are a few Amish stores, but nothing that has really quilting and more of a fabric of clothing in general, ”Maria said.

The store offers fabric for clothing and quilting as well as zippers, buttons and thread.

“Everything you need to make your outfit,” Maria said.

They also carry handmade handbags and diaper bags as well as other gifts.

“We want to have a little something for everyone, we have Amish fabric and Mennonite stuff, you know, prints and we have quilted cottons,” she said.

According to Maria, the store has around 1,000 models, which can be considered a small number, but Maria said there was a reason for this.

“People told us to start small and move up,” she said.

During their opening, Maria said she received a positive response from their customers.

“We have good feedback,” she said.

The store is open Monday to Wednesday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Schmuckers can be reached by phone at 574-773-0537.
